Ayurvedic Drink for Body Rejuvenation and Better Sleep


This warm Ayurvedic drink for body rejuvenation and better sleep is a part of evening Rasayana. Rejuvenation, or Rasayana in Sanskrit, is something that Ayurveda is famous for. It means “practical reversal of the aging process.” Rasayana is one of the eight specialized branches of the practice of Ayurveda. It deals with the maintenance of health. Rasa, meaning juice or fluid, is the vital fluid that we extract from the food we eat. It brings nourishment, it carries off toxins, it enhances our immunity. Rasa looks a lot like what modern physiology calls lymph and plasma.

To regain your body, strengthen your immune system and especially stress and insomnia problems, use evening rasayana.

The combination of ingredients listed in this recipe is great for calming down when emotional and psychic energy is restless, scattered, tense and nervous, and then the quality of sleep is worse.

Evening rasayana enriches the body with nutrients, rejuvenates and improves the functioning of all the body’s organs while at the same time providing a deep and healthy sleep.


  • 1 cup of cow or almond milk
  • 7 cleaned almonds
  • 5 dates (or honey as desired)
  • 1-2 teaspoons of ghee
  • a pinch of saffron
  • 1/2 tsp of cardamom
  • 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoons of curcuma
  • a pinch of black pepper
  • a pinch of nutmeg
If you do not prefer cow’s milk, make your home-made almond milk. In that case, use all almonds for this milk.
Instead of the dates you can add 1 spoon of organic honey. Add it in the end when the drink is warm.
Note: In Ayurveda, the ratio of ghee and honey must not be equal, so always be careful that one of these foods is in a smaller quantity.


  1. Leave almonds to swell in water for at least 8 hours and then peel the skin.
  2. Put all the ingredients in the blender and mix until you get creamy mixture.
  3. Put the mixture in pot and place it on the stove on light fire.
  4. When it is warm and boiling, let it boil for another 2 minutes, then take it off. Let it cool a little bit.
